It contains 80 recipes alongside historical descriptions and numerous illustrations. All of the recipes were found in Medieval manuscripts. Black translated them to modern English. Her contextualization is superb. This volume is a remarkable glimpse at the food culture of Medieval England, and a fun, engaging project for the experimental chef.
