Authenticity Guarantee

We guarantee the authenticity of our inventory. Every item is listed with an accurate, unique description and original photographs. Signed or inscribed materials are guaranteed to be authentic. If after purchase our descriptions, photographs, or signed materials are proven to be inauthentic, we will refund the purchase price of the item(s). For the original buyer, this refund policy is guaranteed for life*. These business practices are driven by our high standards in cataloguing and collecting. Everything at Evening Land Books is carefully researched and evaluated. We don’t sell anything we’re not 100% certain about.

Sales and Holds

All items are subject to prior sale, even those listed on our website or Etsy page. If you have specific questions about a book, please Contact Us. We will be happy to discuss inventory items with you. We occasionally hold items on behalf of interested clients to allow time to answer any pressing questions prior to purchase. Holds are only approved on a case-by-case basis. They are never guaranteed. Any holds must be expressly stated by the seller. Our default timeline for holds is three business days. Holds will be lifted after this default timeline unless otherwise agreed upon by the seller and buyer.

Accepted payment methods:

  • Online: major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express)
  • In-Person: credit and debit cards, cash, and check. Cash and check are only accepted in-person.

Return Policy

We accept returns for any reason within 14 days of delivery or in-person purchase. Returns after this 14-day window are not guaranteed. The buyer must pay for return postage unless otherwise agreed upon by Evening Land Books and the buyer. Refunds are issued after a condition assessment. The buyer is responsible for any loss in value due to damage. Refunds take 10-15 business days to process. We only refund to the debit or credit card used for the initial purchase.

Gift cards, personalized items, research services, and appraisal services are nonrefundable.

Shipping Policies

Upon checkout, buyers will choose their preferred shipping method from our predetermined options. If you have a preferred shipping method not included in our predetermined options, please Contact Us. We will try to accommodate you to the best of our ability.

For shipping within the United States, the predetermined options include:

  • Free Shipping for any purchase over $35 – method is USPS Media Mail (3 – 12 business days)
  • USPS Media Mail (3 – 12 business days)
  • USPS Priority Mail (2 – 6 business days)
  • UPS Next Day Air (1 – 3 business days)

International shipping can take between 10 to 45 days, depending on the destination. For international shipping, the predetermined options include:

  • UPS International
  • USPS International
  • Free shipping for any purchase over $1,000 – method depends on destination

For international shipments, we do not cover the cost of associated duties, taxes, or customs clearance fees. Be sure to review your nation’s import regulations prior to purchase.

As a general business practice, we gift-wrap every item and include a printed description. We also carefully package every item in boxes with extra padding to ensure safe shipment. With prior notice, we will gladly include personalized gift messages.

* Our refund and return policy for items proven to be inauthentic does not extend past the life of the original buyer. We do not accept returns from inheritors of items formerly purchased from Evening Land Books.
