William Gibson is one of the most influential science fiction authors of the late twentieth century. He is largely credited with establishing the cyberpunk subgenre. His early novels and stories incorporated biotechnology, information technology, and computer networks in highly speculative–yet eerily predictive–ways. His debut novel, Neuromancer, is the most famous example. It is a dystopian narrative set in a near-future defined by artificial intelligence, hackers, ubiquitous computing, and major tech corporations–all conceived before the widespread use of the Internet or the home computer. This volume, The Peripheral, continues his work in scifi, but sets his predictive sights on drone technology, surveillance, and job automation. The novel is also a murder-mystery with vivid characters and a riveting plot. Critics praised the novel. In 2022, it was also adapted to television. It is one of Gibson’s most popular works.

This first edition, first printing is signed by Gibson on the title page. It is in about-fine condition. In the original quarter cloth, about-fine with only bumped corners. Text block near-fine, only very minor soiling to edges. In the original dust jacket, about-fine with only rubbing and bumping to edges.
