Guy de Maupassant was a French author acclaimed in the nineteenth century. He is best known for his short stories––masterful works of naturalism that capture characters swept up in the social and economic forces of their time. He was a prolific short story writer, publishing hundreds in his lifetime. In this volume, some of his best works are compiled and translated to English by Lafcadio Hearn. It is part of the Easton Press’s 100 Greatest Books Ever Written series.
This collector’s edition is in very good condition. In the original leather, elaborately gilt stamped, very good with only minor rubbing to spine and edges. Raised bands. Gilt spine label. Text block near-fine, only very minor rubbing to gilt edges. Silk moire endpapers and bookmark sewn in.
