He co-founded Microsoft, driving the software revolution of the late twentieth century and becoming the world’s richest person for many years. Since then, he has put much of his wealth into philanthropic initiatives. He co-founded the Gates Foundation with an endowment of billions of dollars. Much of the work of the organization is focused on international public health. It should come as no surprise, then, that Gates would author this volume: How to Prevent the Next Pandemic. In it, he reflects on the lessons learned from COVID-19 and offers suggestions to better mitigate or prevent future pandemics.
