The Last of the Mohicans: A Narrative of 1757 is one of the earliest classics of American Literature. First published in 1826, it is a historical romance set in upstate New York, describing the transport of the daughters of Colonel Munro by a band of frontiersmen with diverse backgrounds. It is the second book in James Fenimore Cooper’s Leatherstocking Tales, but today readers usually consider it on its own. This collector’s edition by the Easton Press also contains Edward A. Wilson’s terrific illustrations. It is a spectacular edition for any collector of great American literature.
This collector’s edition is in fine condition. In the original full brown leather boards, gilt stamped decorations. Gilt spine label. Raised bands. Text block fine. Gilt edges. Silk moire endpapers and bookmark sewn in.
