Charles Meryon was a French artist who primarily worked with etchings. He is considered one of the most important figures in the tradition of etchings in France. A colorblind artist, etchings quickly became his preferred medium. His work is noted for its depth and richness of detail. In these examples, Meryon’s etchings are reproduced for subscribers of the Modern Masters of Etching series. The series was published in the 1920s and 30s.
