Edmund Blampied was a prominent artist in the early twentieth century. He produced numerous paintings, cartoons, and book illustrations. Yet his most famous works tend to be his etchings. He was a major figure in the etching revival with a particular style of sharp, chaotic lines that somehow formed clear imagery. In this set of prints, Blampied’s etchings are reproduced for subscribers of the Modern Masters of Etching series. The series was published in the 1920s and 30s. Each plate is tipped onto its original page. They are sold here as individual prints ready to be displayed. The available prints are:
- I. “Driving Home in the Rain”
- II. “Vraic Men (Vraic Farmers)”
- III. “Purring and Snoring”
- IV. “The Sick Man”
- V. “Horses Eating Hay”
