Jean M. Auel is an American author best known for her epic series of historical fiction: the Earth’s Children series. It is composed of six long novels about prehistoric tribes of Cro-Magnon and Neanderthal people living in Europe tens of thousands of years ago. The books are researched in their depictions but also maintain narrative qualities typical of epic or fantasy fiction, making them highly popular among genre readers. Altogether, the books have sold millions of copies worldwide. In this volume, The Plains of Passage, Auel presents two characters who journey together across eastern Europe, meeting numerous other groups and experiencing a range of prehistoric cultures. It is the fourth book in the Earth’s Children series. It was a major bestseller in the early 1990s and remains one of the most popular of Auel’s books.

This first edition, first printing is inscribed by Auel on the title page. It is in near-fine condition. In the original quarter cloth, near-fine with only minor sagging to head of spine. Text block near-fine, only slightly sagging and minor soiling to bottom edge. Former owner’s embossed stamp to title page. In the original dust jacket, fine.
