Edgar Lawrence Doctorow was an acclaimed American novelist. Over several decades, he produced critically successful fiction with enigmatic characters, touches of humor, and historical backdrops. Several of his works have been adapted to film and drama, most notably Ragtime. In Homer & Langley, Doctorow presents a humorous, thought-provoking novel about two reclusive brothers. The work is considered Doctorow’s best from the latter half of his career. It is captivating and sincere, a character sketch on par with any other from the period.
