Paul Ryan is a Republican political figure who served in the House of Representatives for many years, rising to become the House Speaker in 2015. He was also Mitt Romney’s vice presidential choice in 2012, but they lost to incumbent Barack Obama. Ryan’s policies are a brand of conservatism that largely waned during the Trump years. That is, he is fiscally conservative. He largely prioritizes removing government from social and economic systems, leaving private businesses to take its place. He has been ostracized from the Republican party, however, for refusing to support Donald Trump. In The Way Forward, Ryan delivers some of his most notable political arguments on fiscal responsibility. It was published in 2014, just before Ryan ascended to House Speaker. The work is also obsessed with critiquing then-president Barack Obama, a typical and exhausting quality of all Republican texts from the era. But for any Republican who still cares about the national debt, Ryan’s book may be appealing.
This first edition, first printing is signed by Ryan on the title page. It is in very good condition. In the original casing, very good with only minor bumping and soiling to back board. Text block fine. In the origins dust jacket, very good with only bumping to edges and small closed tear to head of spine.
A very good signed first edition by Paul Ryan.
