Anne Morrow Lindbergh was a celebrated author and aviator who became one of the most famous people in the world during the mid-twentieth century. She was the first American woman to get a glider pilot’s license. Alongside her husband, she spent much of the early 1930s tracking potential routes for the burgeoning commercial airline industry. Her writing–both nonfiction and poetry–was some of the most popular of the era. Sadly, though, her most public event was the kidnapping and death of her infant son in 1932. The case was called the Crime of the Century and the swarming press afterward drove the Lindberghs to retreat to England. Several years later, their isolationist views during WWII caused much public criticism as well, but Anne’s literary publications and eventual support of US military action revitalized their reputations. During that turbulent period, Anne was producing a prolific amount of nonfiction, including this volume: Listen! The Wind. It is a recounting of her and her husband’s flight across the Atlantic Ocean. It was a major bestseller. It also earned her the National Book Award for Non-Fiction.

This first edition, first printing is in good condition. In the original red cloth, very good with only one spot to front board and crease to spine. Text block very good, only slightly cocked. Lacking the original dust jacket and glassine.
