Fran Tarkenton played quarterback with the Minnesota Vikings for a total of thirteen seasons. He was a dynamic player, winning the NFL MVP Award in 1975, appearing in nine Pro Bowls, and leading the league in passes, touchdowns, and completion percentages at various points in his career. In 1986, he was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame as one of the best quarterbacks ever. In this volume, Fran Tarkenton co-authors a revealing memoir with several chapters and original photographs. Published the year after his MVP award, it provides a personal perspective on his achievements in the NFL at the height of his career. Tarkenton’s co-author, Jim Klobuchar, is also a notable figure. He wrote extensively on the Minnesota Vikings and other state sports. He was also the father of Amy Klobuchar, longtime serving U.S. senator.

This first edition, first printing is inscribed by Jim Klobuchar and Fran Tarkenton on the front free endpaper. It is in very good condition. In the original quarter cloth, near fine with only fading to top edge. Text block near fine, only small closed tears at gutter of back endpaper. In the original dust jacket, very good with some creases, chips, and small closed tears.

A very good inscribed first edition of Fran Tarkenton’s memoir, scarce signed by both authors.
