$1,000.00

In this special offer, we have grouped four exceptionally scarce fine press books from the Sutton Hoo Press–an exceptional private press operating in rural Minnesota. These volumes represent the necessary skill and artistry of the centuries’ old craft of bookmaking brought into the twenty-first century. The volumes included in this offer are: Naming, signed by Philip Levine, the deluxe signed limited edition, one of only thirteen copies; Naming, signed by Philip Levine, the limited edition, one of only 200 copies; A Flock of Scarlet Doves, signed by translator Valerie Martinez, one of only 150 copies; Rhumb Lines, by Anthony Deaton, the limited first edition, one of only 136 copies.

These volumes are in fine condition. The scarce deluxe signed limited edition of Naming is printed on Johannot, a French mold-made paper. It is bound in a lap-component binding with blue leather on the spine and fore-edge and Fabriano Roma, a hand-made cover paper over the boards. The twenty-five fifteen-line sections that comprise this single long poem are printed recto with original calligraphic marks by Cheryl Jacobsen in blue on verso and along the end pages. It is housed in the original black clamshell box made by Judi Conant. The second signed limited edition of Naming is printed from Bembo types on dampened hand-made India Bond paper and bound between boards with a link-stitch by Julia Leonard. Flock of Scarlet Doves is printed from Joanna types on Iyo Glazed, a Japanese, hand-made paper. It is bound in cloth boards with a gilt spine label. Translator and illustrator signatures appear on the colophon. Rhumb Lines is printed from handset Bulmer types on dampened Somerset, an English mold-made paper. It was bound by Bradley Naragon. The binding features marbled papers by Bradley Naragon and C. Mikal Oness, done in-house with a pattern unique to this volume, and case tabs pulled outside of the boards.
