Anne Morrow Lindbergh was a celebrated author and aviator who became one of the most famous people in the world during the mid-twentieth century. She was the first American woman to get a glider pilot’s license. Alongside her husband, she spent much of the early 1930s tracking potential routes for the burgeoning commercial airline industry. Her writing––both nonfiction and poetry––was some of the most popular of the era. Sadly, though, her most public event was the kidnapping and death of her infant son in 1932. The case was called the Crime of the Century and the swarming press afterward drove the Lindberghs to retreat to England. Several years later, their isolationist views during WWII caused much public criticism as well, but Anne’s literary publications and eventual support of US military action revitalized their reputations. She went on to publish numerous exceptional works, including this volume: Bring Me a Unicorn. It is a collection of her diaries and letters from the 1920s, cataloguing her youth and years just prior to marriage and international fame. These materials showcase an early talent for writing. They also invite readers to imagine the author before she was coupled with her husband.

This first edition, first printing is inscribed by Lindbergh on the title page. It is in very good condition. In the original quarter cloth, near-fine with only minor rubbing and fading to edges. Text block near-fine, only pencil mark to fore-edge. In the original dust jacket, very good with only minor soiling and creases.

A very good inscribed first edition of Bring Me a Unicorn.
