Kazuo Ishiguro is a leading British author of our era. He is the recipient of both the Booker Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature. His literary fiction is spare, powerful, and character-driven. His narrators are vivid and accessible except where it tactfully serves the plot. Perhaps no living author has mastered the narrator as well as Ishiguro. In this volume, When We Were Orphans, applies his talents to detective fiction. It is one of his only forays into the genre.
