Etching Prints. By G.L. Brockhurst. From the Modern Masters of Etchings No. 19. The Studio. London, 1928.

$12.00

Gerald Leslie Brockhurst was an English artist who produced some of the best portraits in the early twentieth century. He was a painter and etcher, but today his etchings remain the most notable. Among his many examples, his portraits of young women are particularly renowned. They often harken back to Renaissance classics where the subjects are carefully posed and given depth through a careful eye to light and shadow. In this set of prints, Brockhurst’s etchings are reproduced for subscribers of the Modern Masters of Etching series. The series was published in the 1920s and 30s. Each plate is tipped onto its original page. They are sold here as individual prints ready to be displayed. The available prints are:

II. “The Mirror”
III. “Elizabeth”
IV. “Le Beguin”
V. “Deux Landaises”
VI. “Le Casaquin de Laine”
VII. “Study for a Decoration”
VIII. “Almina”
