Jean-Louis Forain was a French Impressionist who produced watercolors, oils, etchings, and lithographs. In his lifetime, he was considered one of the most significant artists in the Impressionist movement. His work took many subjects, including scenes of public life and Christian theology. In these examples, Forain’s etchings are reproduced for subscribers of the Modern Masters of Etching series. The series was published in the 1920s and 30s.
