Frank W. Benson was an American artist of great acclaim. Over his long life, he produced numerous portraits, watercolors, and etchings. His works were praised for their realism, especially his portraits. His watercolors and etchings often focused on landscapes and birds. His etchings were particularly influential. They popularized the form in the United States. In these examples, Benson’s etchings are reproduced for subscribers of the Modern Masters of Etching series.
