Marius Bauer was a Dutch painter, etcher, and lithographer in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In the 1880s, he traveled from the Netherlands to parts of the Middle East and Africa. In the process, he began to produce Orientalist art of international renown. Middle Eastern landscapes and cityscapes remain his most famous subjects. In this set of prints, Bauer’s etchings are reproduced for subscribers of the Modern Masters of Etching series. The series was published in the 1920s. Each plate is tipped onto its original page. They are sold here as individual prints ready to be displayed. The available prints are:
