Dr. Ruth Westheimer was a famous radio and television host whose candid discussions about sex drew the attention of millions throughout her long career. As a sex therapist, she was educated at the Sorbonne, The New School, and Columbia University, making her a true expert on sexual behavior. Yet what made Dr. Ruth’s sex advice so popular was her disarming demeanor–she was a smiling, petite woman with a European accent–and the frankness with which she addressed every imaginable question surrounding sex. This volume, Dr. Ruth’s Guide to Good Sex, is her first book. It followed the enormous popularity of her radio call-in show, Sexually Speaking. It describes her background, the genesis of the show, and her approaches to answering so many sensitive questions. It also contains numerous transcribed calls from Sexually Speaking and whole sections on common issues: from overcoming sexual boredom, to saying no, to perfecting the quickie, and much more. She went on to publish numerous other sex advice books and books on other subjects, but Dr. Ruth’s Guide to Good Sex remains her most sought-after title.
