Tim O’Brien is a celebrated American author who is best known for his novels about the Vietnam War. A veteran himself, his work applies verisimilitude only possible from his firsthand experiences. Yet his talents as an author go beyond that subject matter, as evinced in this novel, The Nuclear Age. It was O’Brien’s fourth book-length work. It is a humorous novel about its protagonist, William Cowling, as he addresses his longstanding anxieties about the nuclear threats of the mid-twentieth century. Critics met The Nuclear Age with mixed reviews, but dedicated O’Brien readers rank it high among his novels.
This first edition, first printing is in fine condition. In the original quarter cloth, fine. Text block fine. In the original dust jacket, near-fine with only one chip to top edge and fading to spine.
A fine first edition by Tim O’Brien.
