One Christmas. By Truman Capote. First Trade Edition, First Printing. Random House. New York, 1983.
$60.00
One Christmas is a children’s tale about a young boy who visits his estranged father for Christmas. It is a loose sequel to his other children’s short stories, The Thanksgiving Visitor and A Christmas Memory. These shorter classics draw heavily from Capote’s childhood in rural Alabama. One Christmas, however, broaches new subjects and highlights the more mature themes of estrangement and family dysfunction. In 1994, the work was adapted to film. It aired on television just before Christmas. It remains one of Capote’s best short works.
