Louis Auchincloss was a prolific author who published numerous works depicting upper crust American life. Several of his early novels were critically acclaimed. He was nominated for the National Book Award several times, but never won. In The Winthrop Covenant, Auchincloss presents nine short stories centered around polite society. They are deeply emblematic of Auchincloss’s larger body of work. This limited first edition is also illustrated by Jerry Pinkney. For any Auchincloss collector, it is an essential volume.

This limited first edition is in very good condition. In the original full leather, elaborately gilt stamped, very good with only minor bumping and rubbing to corners. Raised bands. Gilt spine label. Text block very good, only minor scuffing and rubbing to gilt edges. Silk moire endpapers and bookmark sewn in.
