Gun Collecting. By Charles Edward Chapel. Facsimile Edition. Palladium. Birmingham, 1998.
$40.00
Charles Edward Chapel was an aeronautical engineer whose pastime was gun collecting. He became such an expert and prolific author on the subject that it largely usurped his scholarly career in aeronautics. He published Gun Collecting, the Boy’s Book of Rifles, The Gun Collector’s Handbook of Values, and several other texts. Yet Gun Collecting was his first major text. It is a spectacular overview on firearm history as well as a guide for building a gun collection. The work is over eighty years old now, but most of it is still relevant to gun collectors. This edition contains a facsimile of the 1941 edition. It was privately printed for members of the Firearms Classics Library.
This facsimile edition is in fine condition. In the original brown leather, finely gilt stamped. Gilt spine label. Raised bands. Text block fine. Gilt edges. Silk moire endpapers and ribbon sewn in.
A fine facsimile edition of Gun Collecting.
