P Is for Peril. Signed by Sue Grafton. First Edition, First Printing. Putnam. New York, 2001.
$40.00
American author Sue Grafton produced one of the most popular detective series of all time with her Alphabet novels, featuring detective Kinsey Millhone. The novels are engaging, plot-driven, and suspenseful. They have maintained a dedicated readership over the decades, but it was a shaky start. The first novel, A Is for Alibi, met mixed reviews upon its publication in 1982. The first printings did not sell as well as expected. It was not until the second novel, B Is for Burglar in 1985, that the series took off. In P Is for Peril, Millhone is hired to investigate the disappearance of Dr. Dowan Purcell. Through a riveting series of events, she unfolds the case with astute detective work and pure chance. Critics praised P Is for Peril as another noteworthy contribution to the series and the genre.
This first edition, first printing is signed by Grafton on the fly leaf. It is in very good condition. In the original quarter cloth, near-fine with only bumping to foot of spine. Text block fine. In the original dust jacket, very good with only minor bumping and creases.
A very good signed first edition of P Is for Peril.
