$70.00

Mary O’Hara’s popular novel is the tale of a Wyoming rancher’s son and his mustang horse, Flicka. A classic of equestrian children’s fiction, the novel ranks alongside John Steinbeck’s The Red Pony and Anna Sewell’s Black Beauty. It was one of the most popular children’s books of the 1940s, catapulting O’Hara’s literary career. In 1943 it was adapted into a film which saw equal popularity and praise. Decades later, it was also adapted into a widely watched television series.

This first edition, nineteenth printing, is in very good condition. In the original green cloth boards, about fine with only rubbing to edges. Embossed horse at bottom right of front cover. Text block about fine, only early owner sticker and signature to front paste-down and free endpapers. Dust jacket is in good condition. Large chipping on spine, corners, and edges. Some cracks and closed tears, but otherwise intact over front and back boards. Price clipped at bottom front flap. Encased in protective mylar.

A very good early printing of this equestrian classic.
