Tom Jones. By Henry Fielding. Limited Edition. Franklin Library. Franklin Center, 1979.
$45.00
Henry Fielding was an English novelist in the eighteenth century. He is often considered a progenitor to much of the English literature of the nineteenth century, having established certain narrative qualities in humor, plot, and narration that subsequent British novelists adopted. Of his many works, Tom Jones stands out as an early example. It is a bildungsroman about its titular character as he uncovers his origins. The work is also noted for its intrusive narrator. It remains one of the most important works in the English literary tradition.
