Prolific Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw is arguably the second most influential dramatist in the western tradition, behind only Shakespeare. He produced an astounding number of exceptional plays in the early twentieth century. For his contributions, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1925. This volume contains two of his most celebrated plays: The Devil’s Disciple and Caesar and Cleopatra. Both were extremely popular dramas around the turn of the century. Both have been adapted to film and television over the decades. They are major highspots of twentieth century drama and remain important parts of Shaw’s canon.
