Jewish-American author Leon Uris wrote some of the most popular historical fiction of the twentieth century. His works were known for their effective portrayals of historical periods and religion. His first major work was Exodus, a fictional account of the founding of Israel. He published numerous other works over the decades, but none were so widely praised as this volume: Trinity. It is a sprawling novel set in Ireland. It recounts the Great Famine and the Easter Rising. Trinity was a major bestseller. Critics hailed its portrayal of Irish Catholic and Protestant cultures and the histories it covered. Alongside Exodus, it remains Uris’s most popular work.
