By Any Other Name. Signed by Jodi Picoult. First Edition, First Edition. Ballantine. New York, 2024.

Jodi Picoult is an American author who has consistently published both critically and commercially successful fiction for the past several decades. Her novels often involve family sagas, romance, and contentious themes. They are consistently bestsellers that also receive critical praise. In this volume, By Any Other Name, Picoult provides two narratives that are centuries’ apart. One involves a woman writing in Elizabethan London, the other a woman writing in modern-day New York. Both shroud their identities as they publish their work, and over the course of the novel, it becomes clear just how connected these two women are. Like many of Picoult’s works, By Any Other Name has been praised for its plot and characterization. It is an excellent example of her fiction.
