Serena Williams is consistently labelled the greatest women’s tennis player of all time. She is also probably the most famous female athlete across any sport in history. Over the course of decades, she dominated tennis with 23 Grand Slam singles titles, four Olympic Gold medals, 73 WTA Tour titles, and much more. Alongside her sister, Venus, she also elevated tennis in the U.S. and internationally, establishing new fanbases and popularity for the sport. In On the Line, Williams recounts her childhood coached by her parents in Compton. She describes her ascent as a young player and her greatest tournaments up to the late 2000s. The text is co-authored with Daniel Paisner and many chapters read like a traditional memoir. Yet there are also Williams’ tournament journals providing day-by-day insight into her most focused tennis performances. It is an effective memoir communicating her complete dedication to the sport.
This first edition, first printing is signed by Williams on the front free endpaper. It is in very good condition. In the original quarter cloth, about-fine with only bumping and rubbing to edges. Text block fine. In the original dust jacket, very good with only rubbing, chipping, and bumping to edges and one closed tear to back flap.
A very good signed first edition by Serena Williams.
