$25.00

Captain Ron Larson was a long-time riverboat and towboat captain on the Mississippi River. He served in in the U.S. Navy during WWII and returned to become a Master First Class Pilot on the Father of Waters. He spent so much time on the river, he became a ubiquitous regional celebrity, one people on the river began to recognize. In Upper Mississippi River: Fact, Fiction, Legend, Captain Larson describes the river’s history from the French explorers to the twentieth century. Alongside the text are numerous images of steamboats, bridges, and river towns. The work was self-published with the Steamboat Press in a run of roughly 4,000 copies. It is a delightful take on the Mississippi River from one of its greatest admirers.

This limited first edition is inscribed by Captain Ron Larson on the verso from the copyright page. It is in fine condition. In the original laminate, fine. Text block fine, only former owner’s gift inscription below Captain Larson’s inscription. No dust jacket, as issued.

A signed limited first edition of this regional title on the Upper Mississippi River.
