In the twentieth century, self-improvement non-fiction developed into its own genre largely through the workings of Dale Carnegie. He was an American writer, lecturer, and corporate consultant whose major work, How to Win Friends and Influence People, became a major bestseller. For many decades, Carnegie traveled the globe, consulting and lecturing on his self-improvement methods. His ideas remain central to many self-improvement programs today. In his Biographical Roundup, Carnegie presents several dozen short biographies of notable people. Examples include Madame Curie, Mark Twain, Winston Churchill, and the Wright Brothers. In each biography, Carnegie emphasizes how these people of history overcame challenges to achieve greatness. Published at the height of his career, the Biographical Roundup was a popular title aimed at young adults. This copy was an award for presenting at Carnegie’s themed event on “How to Conquer Fear and Worry.”

This first edition, first printing is signed by Dale Carnegie on an awardee’s bookplate affixed to the free endpaper. It is in very good condition. In the original cloth, about-fine with only bumping to foot of spine and one corner. Text block fine. In the original dust jacket, very good with only minor chipping, creases, and small closed tears.

A very good signed first edition of Dale Carnegie’s Biographical Roundup.
