The Queen of the Damned. Signed by Anne Rice. First Edition, First Printing. Knopf. New York, 1988.

$120.00

Anne Rice is a fine blend of her contemporaries Stephen King and Shirley Jackson, creating vivid characters and riveting plots with eerie, supernatural backdrops. She ushered in some of the more modern qualities of the vampire genre, such as depicting vampires as sympathetic or telling stories from their perspective rather than casting them as pure villains. Yet she has also written many supernatural novels involving other fantastical beings. This volume is one of her most significant. The Queen of the Damned is the third installment of her Vampire Chronicles. It follows her debut novel, Interview with the Vampire, and The Vampire Lestat, the second installment. The Queen of the Damned continues Lestat’s story and weaves together two others. In the process, it uncovers a rich mythology of vampires dating back to ancient Egypt. The work was a bestseller and a favorite among readers of the Vampire Chronicles. In 2002, it was adapted to film with mixed reviews.

This first edition, first printing is signed by Anne Rice on the front free endpaper. It is in very good condition. In the original quarter cloth, very good with only minor bumping, rubbing, and dampstaining to edges. Text block fine. In the original dust jacket, very good with only bumping and creases to edges.

A very good signed first edition of Queen of the Damned.
