Robert Anton Wilson was a notable mystic, occultist, and journalist. His non-fiction often explored extrasensory perception and the paranormal. He was also a major figure in the counterculture, one made popular for his non-traditional experimentation with drugs. In Sex & Drugs, Wilson weaves the psychedelic experience and the sexual experience into the occult. It is probably his most influential non-fiction work, and his most controversial. It is explicit in sexual-psychedelic detail, describing how drugs change, alter, elevate, or interrupt the sexual experience. There are also sections explaining occult approaches to sex, including witches and orgies, phallic tokens, erotic potions, and so forth. The work is still no doubt shocking to many sensibilities today. This was only more true when it was first published in 1973. Yet it retains a cult following. Many counterculture enthusiasts and historians rank it high among important works from the era.

This first edition, first printing is in very good condition. In the original quarter cloth, fine. Text block very nearly fine, only former owner’s stamp to half-title page. In the original dust jacket, very good with only closed tears, creases, and chipping.

A very good first edition of Sex & Drugs.
