$45.00

William Makepeace Thackeray is a masterful satirist, novelist, and illustrator. The novel, first published in serial form in the United Kingdom in 1847-1847, and afterwards in book form,Vanity Fair is easily his greatest work. A sprawling critique of English society in the 1800s, the novel inspired several generations of English authors. It is also the inspiration for the magazine of the same title. This Collector’s Edition contains Thackeray’s original pencil illustrations, over 200 in total. It is a truly great representation of the text as it was read in the first edition.

This Easton Press Collector’s Edition is in near-fine condition. Bound in full navy leather with ornate 22k gilt stamping. Raised bands. Orange silk endpapers and bookmark ribbon sewn in. Text block near- fine, only former owner’s bookplate and embossing to front matter. Else fine. All edges gilt.

A near-fine collector’s copy of Vanity Fair.
