Interview with the Vampire. By Anne Rice. First Edition, First Printing. Knopf. New York, 1976.

$400.00

Interview with the Vampire, first published in 1976, was Ann Rice’s debut novel. Although it had a slow start, it eventually became a cult classic. Since then, she has published dozens of other works and proven herself to be one of the bestselling Gothic authors of all time. She is a fine blend of her contemporaries Stephen King and Shirley Jackson, creating vivid characters and riveting plots with eerie, supernatural backdrops. She also ushered in some of the more modern qualities of the vampire genre, such as depicting vampires as sympathetic or telling stories from their perspective rather than casting them as pure villains. With Interview with the Vampire, she launched her career with incredible storytelling prowess. It was eventually adapted to film in 1994, starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Kirsten Dunst. Rice wrote the screenplay. It is one of the most popular vampire movies of all time.

This first edition, first printing is in very good condition. In the original half cloth, very good with only minor spots to boards and rubbing to edges. Text block very nearly fine, only former owner’s signature to front endpaper. In the original gold dust jacket, very good with only creases, rubbing, and minor closed tears.

A very good first edition of Anne Rice’s classic, Interview with the Vampire.
