$40.00

This anonymously published selection of Russian Fairy Tales contains some of the most beloved and timeless stories of the Russian folklore tradition retold in new versions. The stories include “Language of the Birds”, “The Unhappy Wolf”, and “Sadko and the River”, among others. Alongside the text are Henry R. Martin’s spectacular color illustrations, all done in Russia’s national shades of white, red, and blue. Martin was a prolific and highly regarded illustrator in the 20th century. He completed a number of books for the Peter Pauper Press, winning the Gag Cartoon Award in 1978. This vintage illustrated volume of fairy tales is a scarce Peter Pauper edition, one highly regarded among their list of fairy tale books.

This illustrated edition is in very good condition. In the original decorative paper boards, about fine with only bumps and rubbing to corners. Text block fine. In the original dust jacket, very good with only minor creases, rubbing to edges, and small closed tears. No author given. Henry R. Martin’s illustrations superb.

A very good illustrated edition of Russian Fairy Tales.
