$65.00

Irish author Samuel Beckett proved to be one of the most versatile writers of the 20th century. He wrote novels, plays, short stories, poems, essays, and more. His classics Waiting for Godot, Molloy, Endgame, and many others are continually revisited by literature students and general readers today. In 1969, Beckett was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. While his plays and prose are often cited as his greatest achievements, his poetry was also lauded as some of the best of his generation, especially upon publication of this volume, Poems in English. It contains lasting parts of his legacy, including Cascando, Serena I, II, and III, and The Vulture. It showcases his minimalist style and incredible discernment of human idiosyncrasies. For any Beckett collector, Poems in English is an essential volume.

This first American edition, first printing is in very good condition. In the original full green cloth boards, very good with only faded tape marks to head and foot of boards. Text block very good, only tape marks to endpapers, small closed tear to foot of page 15, and library catalog sticker residue to endpaper. In the original dust jacket, very good only fading from library label to spine.

A very good first American edition of Beckett’s Poems in English.
