Anthony Deaton earned his PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Houston. His poetry has appeared in many of the best literary magazines publishing today, including the Paris Review, the Gettysburg Review, and the Nation. His work has also been awarded the Discovery/The Nation Award, the Campbell Corner Prize, and others. Deaton has had a long and prestigious career in the U.S. State Department as well, serving as a Public Affairs Officer and a Foreign Service Officer. In Rhumb Lines, his first book of poetry, Deaton presents a dozen poems of remarkable quality. This limited first edition is also noteworthy for its fine craftsmanship and scarcity. Published by the Sutton Hoo Press, an exceptional private press operating in rural Minnesota, this volume represents the necessary skill and artistry of the centuries’ old craft of bookmaking brought into the 21st century.

This limited first edition is in fine condition. The four eight-page signatures are printed from handset Bulmer types on dampened Somerset, an English mouldmade paper. It was bound by Bradley Naragon. The binding features marbled papers by Bradley Naragon and C. Mikal Oness, done in-house with a pattern unique to this volume, and case tabs pulled outside of the boards.

A fine limited first edition of Rhumb Lines, exceptionally scarce.
