Dune. By Frank Herbert. Book Club Edition. Chilton. Philadelphia, 1983.

$130.00

Frank Herbert’s Dune is one of the grandest science fiction novels ever written. The interstellar, political epic showcases a rich cast of characters, most of whom are aristocrats in a feudal society that crosses solar systems, planets, and galactic regions in search of spice–the most valuable of natural products in the known galaxy. Dune tied for the Hugo Award in 1966 and won the Nebula Award for Best Novel. It set forth a series that has become one of the bestselling science fiction series of all time. It was also adapted to film in 1984, and again in the 2020s. A combination of hard science fiction and space opera, Dune’s influence over both subgenres cannot be overstated. It is subsequently a highly sought-after and scarce volume for science fiction collectors.

This book club edition is in very good condition. In the original half cloth boards, near fine with only minor bumps to corners. Text block fine. Gutter code Y49, indicating 1983 printing. In the original dust jacket, very good with only minor chips and closed tears along edges.

A very good collector’s copy of Dune by Frank Herbert.
