The Hunger Games. Warmly Inscribed by Suzanne Collins. First Edition, Fourth Printing. Scholastic. New York, 2008.

$900.00

The Hunger Games begins Suzanne Collins’ acclaimed dystopian trilogy. The novel introduces Katniss Everdeen and the dire country called Panem where rich elites send the lower classes to fight to their deaths. The novel saw hundreds of thousands of copies in the years after its publication, and was followed by the sequels Catching Fire and Mockingjay. All were critically acclaimed bestsellers. They were also adapted to blockbuster films, starring Jennifer Lawrence. It is one of the most successful young adult literature franchises of all time.

This first edition, fourth printing is in fine condition. In the original cloth boards, fine. Text block very nearly fine with only bookplate residue to front endpaper. In the original dust jacket, fine. This copy is inscribed by Suzanne Collins on the title page, reading: “For Katie, May the odds be EVER in your favor! Love, Suzanne Collins”. Underneath the inscription is Collins’ signature twig and leaf stamp. Collins rarely inscribes or signs anymore due to a wrist injury, making truly signed copies quite scarce.

A scarce inscribed edition of The Hunger Games, especially fine.
