$28.00

This wonderfully illustrated edition of the greatest work ever written on fishing, The Compleat Angler, is a spectacular pairing of text and image. The Compleat Angler treats fishing as a lifestyle and philosophy, and provides best practices. First published in 1653, the work contains discourses between fishermen and other outdoor enthusiasts, as well as essays on fishing with tips for specific species and seasons. Reading this work bridges the history of four centuries of anglers and reveals the great tradition of the pastime. It has also seen multiple illustrated editions, but none as adored as Arthur Rackham’s. The twelve color plates and line drawings appearing in this edition were some of Rackham’s most appreciated projects.

In the original green dust jacket, minor chipping to head and closed tear on back flap. In the original cloth boards, pristine with Rackham illustration embossed on front board. All original illustrations present and clean. Early owner gift inscription to front free end paper.

An about fine, beautifully illustrated copy.
