A Witness Tree. By Robert Frost. First Edition, First Printing. Holt & Co. New York, 1942.

$50.00

Robert Frost is the most celebrated poet of the 20th century. He is the only poet to win the Pulitzer Prize four times. Many of his poems, which are deeply rooted in American culture, are recognizable by their individual lines. With this collection, A Witness Tree, Frost had broken a six-year hiatus from publishing collections. Its most famous poem is undoubtedly “The Gift Outright” which was recited at the inauguration of John F. Kennedy as President of the United States in 1961.

In the original green cloth boards, fine with gilt stamped spine and front board. Text block fine, only former owner’s gift inscription to front endpaper. In the original dust jacket, very good with only minor closed tears and rubbing to edges.

Near fine first edition, first printing of Robert Frost’s Pulitzer Prize-winning poetry collection.
